Description

NGC 1398 is a spiral galaxy in Fornax with a double ring structure and very strong bar  in it's core. It is located 65 million light years away. The galaxy contains over 100 billion stars and has a diameter of 135,000 light years, and has an apparent magnitude of 10.63 and size of 7.1 x 5.4 arc minutes.

2022 data ee-processed with the newest Pixinsight update and Russel Croman's latest BX AI library and the new AI update to Graxpert. Graxpert is very very good, but the best results still need careful management of the sample points. BlurXterminator has improved immensley,  particulary for dense star fields, but, after initial correction to the channels,  it is still a loaded weapon best carefully applied to the linear combined data so some changes to the workflow are needed.

Weather is crazy again ! 40 degrees one day, 20 the next and now rain up until Xmas but much better than bush fires.
If conditions permit I will give this another run around trhe next new moon as it  is remarkable galaxy and more quality data never hurts.
